AMTC Manchesters In Rescue

Pharoh is a Toy Manchester at 10 years old, but don’t let that make you think of elderly and unable, oh no!  This little guy at 8 lbs is a spry old gentleman.  He obviously has been someone’s house pet for many years before turning up at the pound.  Every day he is here with us we find out something else about his personality.  On new years day we discovered he could catch food!  He knows his way around the kitchen, particularly the precise spot to stand, without getting stepped on, as to where the food is cooked and could possibly fall, right onto his nose, and oh boy that nose is in great working order.  He doesn’t fight having a coat put on, so he already knew that drill  He used talk to his food while he ate, but has stopped that now he knows he is getting regular meal times, and that food dish his all his, and he doesn’t have to fight for it.  He will bark for attention, just so he knows you haven’t forgotten him, but we never hear him bark at any other time, and he loves his blankie in his crate, he is a curler-upper and disappears under it in his crate at bed time, and he is under the blanket on my chair as soon as we settle in for a tv show.  He is too easy to love, and has many years to give back to someone who wants a “real” lap dog, as his two best things are eating and snuggling.  He is self confident and would transition so easily to a new home and live easily with other small dogs.  The only thing that slows him down just a bit are his knees, so I try not to let him jump on and off the furniture, he has free run of the house. His teeth have been cleaned and he has minty fresh smile.  Pharoh's vaccines are up to date and he is neutered. Pharoh is being foster in Texas. Max a Toy Manchester Terrier, in New Jersey, is about 10 years old. He is still very active and spry but his eye sight may not be as good as it once was. He loves to go for walks, is very good on leash and knows basic commands. He will bark if he needs to go out and thinks you have forgotten about him. He will occasionally mark his territory inside so should wear a belly band around the house for the first few days until he gets used to his new surroundings.

"Please contact Michelle Barlak at michelle@bleusprings.net for more information."
While he is not aggressive with children, he does not like the way they handle him and would be happy in a home without children. He doesn't like the antics of hyper dogs and would do best in a home with a calm female dog or as an only dog. Due to his age he is sensitive to cold and prefers to wear coats and sweaters in the winter.  He is very affectionate and loves to sleep next to you on the bed or beside you on the couch and will beg you to pet him.

Jesse is being foster in Tennessee. Jesse is a 10 yr old male Toy Manchester Terrier. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines. His owner had to go into a nursing home. He is a very sweet boy. Contact Debbie for more information  jazzyjlb@msn.com

Daisy Mae is a Toy Manchester Terrier. She is 7 yrs old, spayed and vaccines up to date. She loves to sit in your lap all day. Very sweet girl.
Daisy is being foster in KY. Contact Debbie jazzyjlb@msn.com  for more information.

The dogs we take into rescue are re-homed in what we call 'forever homes' but first any Manchester taken into AMTC Rescue is placed in a 'foster home' - and while in the foster home, the dog is vet checked for heartworms, parasites, and other possible medical conditions, spayed/neutered and given lots of love and attention until a forever home is found.  Apply to foster through our application process (Word) or (Adobe).

Below are courtesy listings of other manchesters that are available for homes.

In Shelter
"Bubba is a 25 pound, Senior Male Manchester Terrier located in a No Kill shelter in Auburn, Nebraska. "  Email: hua@hua.org   Bubba was rescued from a breeder who had too many dogs to care for properly.   He is good with dogs and up to date with shots  He is a kindly old gentleman, quite spry and very curious. He is almost blind but it doesn't slow him down. He loves to investigate his surroundings, often with his nose held high to detect anything (especially a good treat) that he should be particularly aware of. The sun room is his favorite because he can feel the sun shine through all of the glass and also get plenty of food, love and hugs.  Bubba invites you to visit him on his very own web page at: http://www.hua.org/Dogs-For-Adoption/Bubba.html

These are rescues available by other rescue groups.  Some are purebred Manchesters and some are mixes. These rescues all have one thing in common: they need homes.
